This selection in eight parts, Local Anesthetic, is based on a short novel by Gunter Grass about a man reminiscing in a dentist's chair under the influence of anesthetics. Our project was never completed, but the texture of sound and voice, effects and narrative threads (warts and all) show some of the possibilities of "radio as art."

THE RIGHT COLUMN GIVES A SAMPLING of audio projects, radio shows I produced (or co-produced) in the 1970s and 80s at KCSB, the campus station at UCSB, University of California, Santa Barbara.

THE LEFT COLUMN IS MY CATALOG of Bandanna Books publications in paper. Still working on the ebook thing, and the mobile thing (I'll be getting an iPhone soon, don't have a Kindle yet — help me change that).
