FARLEY MOWAT's writings have inspired perhaps millions of people to pay attention to wilderness. He tends to romanticize in the fast-paced stories he tells, but there are few who could dispute his knowledge with other interpretations. He has been one of the strong influences on the environmental movement. Here, a reading from Mowat's writing is underlaid with Paul Winter and his group, who sometimes mimic animal sounds to turn them into music, so that the line between human and animal (or whale) is less distinct than usually thought to be. You'll notice some typical Sound Art Sound Text foolery at the beginning.
